Do you have a physical location or storefront?

No. At this time, Roots, Rocks and Reptiles does not have a permanent storefront. We explored opening a physical location, but the costs would have taken resources away from the care of the animals in our rescue. Our priority is providing the best possible care, education, and community outreach.

We hope to open a permanent location in the future and plan to remain in the South Milwaukee area.

How can I support Roots, Rocks and Reptiles?

There are many ways to support our mission! You can make a financial donation, purchase items from our wish lists, volunteer your time, attend our educational programs and community events, shop with us, or simply help spread the word by sharing our organization with others.

Every form of support helps us provide quality care for the animals in our rescue while expanding educational opportunities throughout the community.

Do you breed or sell reptiles?

No. Roots, Rocks and Reptiles does not breed reptiles or purchase animals for resale. Every reptile in our care came to us through rescue or owner surrender.

Some animals may eventually become available for adoption once they have been evaluated, received any necessary care, and are considered ready for a permanent home. Adoption decisions are based on the individual animal’s needs, and potential adopters must be prepared to provide appropriate housing, husbandry, and long-term care.

Our goal is not to produce or sell more animals. It is to give rescued and surrendered reptiles the care they need and place them in suitable, permanent homes whenever possible.

What does Roots, Rocks and Reptiles do?

Roots, Rocks and Reptiles is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reptile and invertebrate rescue, rehabilitation, responsible rehoming, and community education. We also provide educational programs, outreach events, and resources to help animals and their keepers succeed.

Do you offer educational programs?

Yes! We offer educational presentations, animal meet and greets, and interactive programs for libraries, schools, scout groups, community organizations, businesses, and special events. Programs can often be tailored to the audience, age group, and event.

Our programs are designed for all ages, whether you're introducing young children to reptiles or hosting an educational event for adults. Depending on the species, the individual animal, the setting, and the animal's comfort level, participants may also have the opportunity to interact with some of our ambassador animals. Any handling is always supervised to help ensure the safety and well-being of both the animals and participants.

Do you accept surrendered reptiles or invertebrates?

Yes. We accept owner surrenders whenever space and resources allow. If you need to rehome an animal, please contact us before dropping it off so we can discuss the situation and determine whether we have room.

Can I adopt an animal from you?

Yes. Animals are only made available for adoption after they have been evaluated, received appropriate care, and are ready for a permanent home. We work with adopters to help ensure each animal is placed in an appropriate environment.
